How much time per week do you need to devote to the project?
We have a ready-made program divided into 27 lessons. This means that you will only need to dedicate one hour each week to complete the program. The program can be used in class as well as in clubs.
How many groups can one caregiver submit?
A mentor can submit as many groups as they wish to the program. To date, the highest number of groups from a single mentor in the program is 8. Typically, teachers submit one class, within which they form 2-3 teams.
Is it necessary to participate in the tournament?
Young Lean Leader is primarily a program to teach competencies of the XXI century, so participation in the national tournament is not required. After registering to the program, we provide materials that allow you to implement the program regardless of the tournament.
What knowledge does the group facilitator need to have to run the program independently?
No knowledge of Lean thinking is necessary prior to the program. With the materials provided and the three training sessions, the teacher can easily guide the team through the program.
How will this program help the student?
The program enables students to develop 21st century competencies, the competencies of the future sought by top employers. The program also develops skills that will make it easier for them to function in a peer group and to learn in later stages of education.
Can one group have multiple mentors?
Yes. It is even desirable because of random situations that can happen during the 10 months of the program.
How long will it take for youth to participate in the program?
Students will spend 1 class period per week with the teacher. Additionally, passionate students can spend 2-3 times as much on the program as they spend with the teacher.
Can only a teacher register a group?
The group can be registered by any adult who will take care of a group of 10 people.
In what subjects can the program be implemented?
The subjects for the program at school are: Economics in practice, Entrepreneurship, Vocational orientation, Education hour as well as extracurricular activities and study circles. In the program we have already had in groups: library, dance, scouting, interest circles - composed of students from different classes and even different schools.
How large can the group be?
8-12 students in the program. In the tournament, the requirement for the second stage of the program is a 10-person team - the group can be larger, but in the semifinals only ten students will take part. It can also be smaller but this reduces its chances of getting a good result. So it is worth having reserve players.
Is the program free?
Participation in the program and all materials are free of charge. The only cost that will be incurred if the group performs very well is for travel to the semi-finals and finals. The school only provides a small amount of office supplies such as A4 sheets of paper, a stapler, glue, scissors, markers, post-it notes and sheets of grey paper.
Is there a training for teachers?
The program will include 3 teacher trainings on the topics of: Lean Thinking, Problem Solving and Process Improvement. These trainings are closely related to the material that will be implemented by students at that time. The dates and locations of the trainings will be published on our website in early September.
Why do I need parental consent and who has access to my child's data?
Consent is required because some of the material developed by students is shared with other program participants. Student images are also shared with subsequent editions in order to inspire participants. Only employees of the Lean Education Foundation Headquarters have access to submitted student data.
Can a parent support the implementation of the program?
Yes. A parent can be a supportive mentor and even lead the group. He or she can also help the participating group organize the trip to the semifinals and finals. A parent, as an employee of a company, can volunteer a group of youth from his or her company.
